| Oracle Software Packager
is Oracle's new solution for building the installation of
Oracle8i and products following. Software Packager is a
new Java tool that allows you to package software into a
format which can be interpreted by the Oracle Universal
Installer.
The Software Packager replaces
the ORCA scripting language with a Java-based, object-oriented
product that is easy to learn and support but yet has the
complexity required for defining installations of large
sets of software for any environment. From simple installation
definitions to very complex bundled installations, Oracle
Software Packager enables packaging of Oracle software as
well as easy integration of ISVs and VARs software into
a common installation, a final media image interpreted by
the Oracle Universal Installer.
You can now take advantage
of the new features of the Oracle8i database while Oracle
Software Packager allows database administrators or Oracle
application developers to integrate their installations
seamlessly with the Oracle8i database install. Software
Packager was used to build the installation of Oracle8i
Production and the Universal Installer is the installation
engine for Oracle8i. |
