Our goal was to create a tool that allowed someone to see everything and do anything to a Btrieve or Pervasive SQL DDF and/or database file. And do so in a way that is simple and easy to use. And it is loaded with functionality.
The Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL is a complete and integrated data management tool. It combines everything from DDF editing, data file editing, import, export, file creation, file modification, rebuild and more. You can start with an existing DDF or Btrieve file, or create a brand new one. You can rebuild files, export data or DDF definitions. It combines an explorer type interface with a set of tabbed grids. It is very easy to use.
The Data Manager uses an easy to see and use interface. Everything is easily accessable with the explorer type tree view and tabbed grids. The explorer tree view allows you to easily switch views from table to table. And easily switch from a DDF Table view to a Data File view and explore every aspect of your DDF and Data files. You can also easily select fields, set field masks, set filters, and indexes for browsing, editing and exporting data.
The Data Manager for Pervasive SQL and Btrieve does not use ODBC for reading the Btrieve files. So there is no need to purchase or configure an ODBC driver. It will run right out of the box. It does not even need a Data Dictionary (DDF) and can work directly with a Btrieve file. It supports all versions of Pervasive SQL and Btrieve. It even Plugs into our 32 Bit Power Pack for Btrieve so you can use it on older Netware Btrieve and 16 bit Btrieve systems.
The enterprise version adds a configurable data management facility, command line, and ActiveX interfaces. The management facility provides a way to configure operations to Pervasive SQL and Btrieve databases. Lets say to want to export an entire database to tab delimited text files or either a Microsoft Access or SQL Server database. With the Management facility of the Enterprise edition you can select the table you want to export. For each table you can select the fields you want to export. You can set a filter to select only the records you want. And much more. You can execute this configuration or save it to a file and execute it later. You can even pass this configuration to the command line or an ActiveX control and execute it as a batch process or from within a scheduling program, report writer, etc. There are numerous possibilities for integrating this with other applications. Or if you simply want an easy to use, reliable and repeatable tool for database export.
The Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL is a MIDI application that treats a DDF or individual Btrieve file as a document. You can have multiple DDF and/or Btrieve files open at the same time. Via a tree view and a set of tabbed grids everything is easily seen and modifiable.
