IBM DB2 Thread Expert is an efficient workhorse that offers DBAs a batch interface feature that proactively prevents failures of utilities or applications. The interactive system productivity facility (ISPF) interface displays active threads and drills down to give DBAs crucial information about a thread.
Its wide range of thread-filtering criteria allows DBAs to specify precisely the threads they wish to display or cancel. The tool’s escalated cancel option allows DBAs to terminate batch jobs or started jobs from which a thread originates—or any threads that could not be terminated during normal cancellation processing.
Along with its easy installation and customization attributes, DB2 Thread Expert includes security features that control the ability of users to perform certain functions. Available reports not only tell a DBA which threads were cancelled or which are active, but also provide audit information on who cancelled which threads, troubleshooting problems, and general product performance.
