| IMS Parallel Reorganization |
The more you add, update and delete records in your IBM IMS database, the more frequently you must reorganize the database to restore data clustering and distribute free space evenly. Otherwise, performance will suffer. Reorganizing a database can require significant time - and usually involves taking the database offline.
Typically, you need to unload the database to tape or DASD and then reload it to restore data clustering. Secondary indexes for the reorganized database must be reorganized or rebuilt. But in todays cost-conscious business climate with its high demand for information access, you simply cannot spare the time and effort.
IBMs IMS Parallel Reorganization for z/OS enables you to reorganize the database more quickly and efficiently by running unload, reload, index-building, and image copy tasks concurrently if the database has no logical relationships.
Because it automates and simplifies many tasks required to reorganize the IMS database, IMS Parallel Reorganization can help keep your database in top shape without occupying too many of your IT resources. |
