Open Database
Connectivity (ODBC), a SQL-based specification developed by
Microsoft, defines a standard interface for any desktop application
to send and receive SQL statements to a data source containing
data. Widely used desktop application tools such as word processors,
spreadsheets and application development tools are ODBC enabled
and provide a means of easily bringing data from ODBC-compliant
data sources.
Availability
Automation Technology, Inc. (ATI) announces the availability
of OpenRDA ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB and .NET Driver for FIX Versions
6.x, 7.x and Dynamics. The OpenRDA Driver makes the FIX
real-time and historical database ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB and
.NET compliant, without any changes to your FIX database
and without requiring a third-party relational database.
This Driver will allow you to use virtually any software
product that is ODBC, OLE DB, JDBC or .NET compliant with
your FIX and iFIX data. Since it is a client/server solution,
you can access the FIX or iFIX database from anywhere within
your enterprise, even over the Internet.
ATI also provides client connectivity products on various
UNIX, OpenVMS, and MVS platforms with the same ODBC, JDBC
API. This ensures your corporate IT folks will have access
to data regardless of which enterprise server platforms
exist in your organization.
Benefits
This one driver will ensure that your FIX and iFIX database
is accessible by over 400 software products on the market
today. And, because client-side connectivity is available
on all popular platforms, your IT department will love it
also for interfacing with ERP, MES, MRP, and data warehousing
systems. You can call it the ultimate insurance policy for
ensuring an open standard interface to your FIX and iFIX
data!
Flexibility - Having ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB and .NET access
to your FIX and iFIX real-time and historical data ensures
that hundreds of 4GL tools and environments can be readily
applied by your organization to analyze your corporate information.
Productivity - The application suite of products currently
on your desktop are more than likely ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB
or .NET enabled. Since people use these software tools daily,
no new training will be required!
